Women’s Basketball Cans 19 Three-Pointers in 98-68 Triumph Over Bloomfield

Goldey-Beacom exploded for 19 three-pointers and kept pace in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference South Division with a convincing 98-68 victory over Bloomfield at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

The Lightning simply were lethal from beyond the arc, netting at least four in each quarter with six coming in the third and closing the game finishing 19-of-36.  The 19 three-pointers are the most in the last 10 years as the College's historic files from before that do not have single-game highs.

Freshman Rory Ciszkowski (Wilmington, DE) drilled five from downtown to match her season best and that gives her 60, the eighth-best single-season total in school history.  Senior Lexi Weikert (Harrisburg, PA) also nailed five, two short of her career high from December 7, 2019 at Chestnut Hill.

The first half was a shooting clinic in which the Lightning went off for 55 percent (18-of-33) from the floor and 9-of-17 from three-point range.  Ciszkowski ended with 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting, Alanna Speaks (Dover, DE) netted 10 points with fellow senior Alexis Harrison (Millville, NJ) adding eight and five rebounds.

The defense also played its part by holding the Bears to just 39 percent (15-of-38) from the field and one 3-pointer.

For good measure, the Lightning went on a 26-15 burst in the third quarter with six 3-pointers for a 76-51 lead.  Weikert poured in nine points with Speaks adding six.

Weikert came close to a triple-double, scoring a personal-best 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting with a career-high nine assists to go with seven rebounds.  She moves into 10th in school history with 183 career assists and is tied for ninth with 124 steals.

Ciszkowski poured in a season-best 19 points on 6-of-11 shooting, Speaks netted 16 points with Harrison adding 15 and seven rebounds.

Tanazha Ford and Saja Alston poured in 12 points apiece with Jasmine McDuffie adding seven rebounds for the Bears (4-19, 3-11 CACC).

Goldey-Beacom (10-14, 7-7) remains tied for the fourth and final CACC Tournament spot from the South Division with Georgian Court (7-7), which today got a 66-59 win at Felician.  Both teams have three games left in the regular season.

Goldey-Beacom is home next Saturday on Senior Day to face Chestnut Hill at 1:00 pm.  The men's game between the same schools will follow at 3:00 pm.
