Men's Basketball Handed 93-69 Loss by Bloomfield

Goldey-Beacom faced a tough test and was handed a 93-69 loss against Bloomfield in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

Bloomfield raced to an early 20-9 lead midway through the first half and continued its offensive force to put it ahead 42-31 at the half on 47 percent shooting (14-of-30) from the field. Josh Morris proved difficult to stop, netting 15 points.

The second half was a similar story to the first. The Bears limited the Lightning to 38 percent from the field (13-of-34) and shot 56 percent (19-of-34) themselves. A small 8-4 scoring run by the Lightning with 7:44 remaining attempted to break the Bears, but was not successful. The Bears continued their pressure to outscore the Lightning 51-38 in the second half.

Freshman Zayon Marsh (Maplewood, NJ), the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference reigning Rookie of the Week, closed with 19 points. Junior Ayshion Centeno (Pleasantville, NJ) finished with 16 points, while Mekhi Collins (Medford, MA) added 10 for GBC.

The Bears (13-10, 9-5 CACC) showed consistency across the board with all players shooting 30 percent or higher. Josh Morris led with 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting and Andres Fulgencio closed with 14. Tyrek Battle-Holley notched 13 points, Izaiah Poole finished with 12 and Wesley Robinson added 11.

Goldey-Beacom (10-14, 7-7) remains second in the CACC South Division, but now falls into a tie with Georgian Court (7-7) and Chestnut Hill (7-7).  The top two teams in each of the two divisions host a quarterfinal in the CACC Tournament.

Goldey-Beacom is head to Kutztown, PA on Monday for a rescheduled non-conference matchup against Kutztown beginning at 7:00 pm.
