Goldey-Beacom Men's and Women's Track & Field opened their 2023 spring season Friday, competing at the Fasttrack National Invitational in Staten Island, NY.
 
In the men's fielding events, freshmen Sebastian Lacroix (Hamilton, NJ) and Richard Mesa (Newark, DE) in the weight throw placed 52nd and 54th, respectively. Mesa finished with a throw of 6.04m (19'9.5") and, with a throw of 10.64m (34'11"), Lacroix broke the school record.
 
In the shot put, Lacroix finished 40th with a throw of 12.01m (39'5") and Mesa placed 55th with a distance of 9.39m (30'9.75).
 
In the track events, freshman Kedar Reid (Bear, DE) placed 67th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.13.
 
In the 400m, sophomore Hezakiah Ali-Bentley (Dover, DE) led the group, placing 57th with a time of 53.34 seconds. Reid closed 64th in 53.94 seconds and junior A'mair Buffaloe (Prospect Park, NJ) finished 72nd in 54.74 seconds. Freshman Xachary Tucker (Middletown, DE) closed in 56.07 seconds to place 80th, with junior Tymir Ash-Shaheed (Middletown, DE) placing 86th with a time of 56.83 seconds.
 
On the women's side, another school record was broken in the weight throw. Junior Alexia Cornish (Milford, DE) placed 50th with a throw of 9.57m (31'4.75"). Junior Damia White (Bridgeton, NJ) threw a distance of 5.70m (18'8.5") to close 55th.
 
In the shot put, Cornish led the Lightning group, placing 21st with a distance of 10.43m (34'2.75"). Freshman Madison McGowan (Bristow, VA) finished 34th with a throw of 9.31m (30'6.5") and White threw 8.43m (27'8") to close 47th.
 
In the track events, sophomore Ellonah Lewis (North East, MD) placed 21st with a time of 8.61 seconds in the 60-meter dash. Sophomore Karla Chardon (Penns Grove, NJ) placed 29th in the preliminaries with a time of 8.18 seconds.
 
Chardon, also competing in the 200-meter dash, closed 40th in 27.32 seconds.
 
Goldey-Beacom travel to Princeton, NJ on Sunday to compete in the Princeton Invitational with events beginning at 10:30 am.
