Basketball Sees Two More Earn a Spot on the CACC Weekly Honor Roll

12/11/2023 12:00:00 AM

Another strong week for two bona fide standouts was in store for Goldey-Beacom, which saw freshman Katie Yoder (Dublin, PA) make the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Honor Roll and junior Ayshion Centeno (Pleasantville, NJ) earn the same pick for Men's Basketball.

Yoder averaged 18.3 points and 5.7 rebounds over three games, shooting 43 percent (16-of-37) from the floor and 79 percent (22-for-28) from the foul line.  She poured in a season-best 26 points and matched her season high with nine rebounds Saturday at Saint Michael's.  Yoder also scored 15 points Tuesday at Bowie State and 14 on Sunday at American International.

It has been more than a strong beginning for Yoder, a multi-dimensional guard who firmly has her feet in the ground as a star and a leader for the Lightning.  A two-time CACC Rookie of the Week who makes her second appearance on the Weekly Honor Roll, Yoder has scored in double figures eight times this season and grabbed at least seven rebounds on four occasions.

Yoder is sixth in the league with 14.7 points per game, 20th with 10 three-pointers and 25th with 5.3 rebounds per contest.

Centeno averaged 17.0 points on 12-of-20 shooting and 6.5 rebounds over two games.  He tied his season best with 22 points on 7-of-10 shooting to go with seven rebounds Saturday at West Chester.  Centeno also scored 12 points Wednesday on 5-of-10 shooting and grabbed six rebounds in Goldey-Beacom's 83-76 victory over Lincoln (PA).

Centeno as of late has been on a tear, giving GBC strong numbers and incredible play at guard that helps take the pressure off his teammates.  He has scored in double figures his last six contests, averaging 17.2 points on 61 percent shooting (38-of-62) and 4.0 rebounds with nine steals and seven 3-pointers.

Making the Weekly Honor Roll a second straight week, Centeno is 14th in the CACC with 14.7 points per game, fourth with a .593 field goal percentage, 15th with a .450 three-point percentage and 18th with 11 steals.

Both teams return to action this week at Millersville.  The men's contest is Tuesday at 6:00 pm and the women's game is Thursday at 6:00 pm.
