Eduardo Coimbra Picked First Team All-CACC for Men’s Soccer

11/7/2023 12:00:00 AM

Goldey-Beacom continued its tradition of receiving yearly awards from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference with Eduardo Coimbra (Curitiba, Brazil) named first team all-league for Men's Soccer and fellow senior Samantha Emmi (Logan Twp., NJ) picked second team all-conference for Women's Soccer.

Coimbra for four seasons has been an explosive player, gaining his third all-league mention that included second-team honors in 2019 and 2021.  An outstanding goal scorer and a tremendous passer, Coimbra is a major reason why the Lightning played in the CACC Tournament for the second time during his stay.

He is 40th in the nation with a career-best 24 points, 52nd with a personal-high nine goals and 54th with six assists.  Buoyed by scoring twice October 14 at Bloomfield and notching a five-game points streak in September, Coimbra is sixth in the league in points, sixth in assists and seventh in goals.

Coimbra graduates tied for fourth in team history with 22 goals, fourth outright with 23 assists and fifth with 67 points.  His 24 points this season are tied for the 10th-best, single-season mark in program annals.

Goldey-Beacom (6-10-2) rallied from a zero-win season last year and picked to end 11th in this year's preseason coaches poll to close eighth and make the CACC quarterfinals.  GBC ended the regular season with five results in its last eight league contests and overall amassed eight multi-goal games.

Emmi this year came in and gave the defense an immediate upgrade, helping solidify Goldey-Beacom as a squad which was not going to allows many goals.  The squad upheld that, holding its opponents without a goal in the first half on 12 occasions and yielding just six first-half markers for the year.

It is Emmi's third all-conference nod, having been picked with Wilmington (DE) the CACC Defensive Player of the Year in 2021 and first team all-conference the following year.  She also was tabbed first team CCA All-East Region and to the CACC All-Tournament Team in 2021 in addition to being picked second team CCA All-East Region in 2022.

Goldey-Beacom this season reached double figures in results for the seventh straight year.
