After struggling to find the bottom of the basket in the first half, both teams settled in the second to provide exciting action.

With 14:32 remaining, sophomore Caleb Bates (Detroit, MI) sparked a 7-0 run for the Lightning as they took a 43-40 lead. But it was quickly cut short when Daemen went on a 13-4 run of their own to take back a 53-47 lead with 8:06 left.

The Lightning clawed their way back to tie up the score at 54-54 before Andrew Mason score a three-pointer and Dylan Fasoyiro netted six points to give Daemen a 63-54 lead.

Sophomore Zayon Marsh (Maplewood, NJ) knocked down a free throw to give the Lightning a final boost with 2:07 left, followed by a three-pointer canned by Bates and another by senior Nazim Derry (Atlantic City, NJ) with 55 seconds to go to bring the Lightning to trail 68-62.

As the Lightning were forced into a foul situation in the final minute, Daemen closed the game 7-of-8 from the charity stripe to secure the 75-67 win.

Marsh finished with a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds, awarding him All-Tournament Team honors. Derry closed with 15 points, Bates notched 14, and senior Damani Thomas (Kingston, NY) added 11 for GBC (1-1).
