Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Alexis Harrison Reaches 1,000 Career Points and Bethann Burke Notches Her 100th Win in Women’s Basketball’s 90-61 Triumph Over Bridgeport

Senior Alexis Harrison (Millville, NJ) became the 11th in program history to reach 1,000 career points and coach Bethann Burke recorded her 100th career victory in Goldey-Beacom's 90-61 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference rout of Bridgeport at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

Harrison reached the milestone plateau on a layup with 4:34 left for the last of her career-high 25 points, which she got on 7-of-14 shooting in addition to going 11-for-12 from the line.  It was her 10th game this season scoring in double figures.

Burke already entered today as the program's winningest coach before reaching her own milestone.  She became the winningest coach November 11, when Goldey-Beacom notched an 82-73 season-opening win over Saint Rose for her 95th win to surpass Jen Carleton (2007-13).

Goldey-Beacom had this one from the jump, especially when it shot 77 percent (10-of-13) from the floor in the first quarter with four 3-pointers.  It also held Bridgeport to just 31 percent shooting (4-of-13) in gaining a 26-12 lead.

Freshman Rory Ciszkowski (Wilmington, DE) canned three 3-pointers in that time for her nine points with Harrison, senior Mone Izumi (Fukuoka, Japan) and junior Janiya Stevens (Ellendale, DE) getting four points apiece.

The Lightning (6-11, 3-4 CACC) also had on the offensive jets in the third quarter, scoring 29 points by shooting 69 percent (11-of-16) from the field.  Harrison made the stanza her personal showcase with 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting.

Harrison had plenty of help with Ciszkowski continuing her dazzling shooting exhibition, scoring 18 points to match her season high and hitting four 3-pointers to fall one short of her personal best.  The CACC leader in three point percentage now is shooting .494 from beyond the arc.

Stevens had 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting with eight rebounds, Izumi netted 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting and senior Lexi Weikert (Harrisburg, PA) added nine points.

Amani Melendez scored 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting, Stephanie McBride netted 15 with Mackenzie Creighton adding 10 for the Purple Knights (8-9, 4-5).

Goldey-Beacom is home next Tuesday against local-rival Wilmington (DE).  Game time is at 6:00 pm, followed by the men's contest between the same schools at 8:00 pm.
