9/19/2022 12:00:00 AM

Goldey-Beacom got three picked for weekly awards from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference with freshman Mariah McQueen (Baltimore, MD) named Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week, sophomore Alyssa Ruggeri (Hockessin, DE) picked to the sport's Weekly Honor Roll and sophomore Piper Nanouski (Ottawa, IL) named to Volleyball's Weekly Honor Roll.

McQueen ended with two goals and an assist over two games.  She scored twice on Tuesday in helping Goldey-Beacom rally for a 4-2 victory at Georgian Court.  McQueen also had an assist Saturday against Post.

McQueen has started five of Goldey-Beacom's seven games and has been a tremendous addition at forward.  Displaying many skills and helping the squad to a winning record in the league, she is fifth in the CACC with four goals and seventh with nine points.

Ruggeri closed with two goals and four assists over two games for GBC (3-4, 2-1 CACC).  She went off for a goal and a career-best three assists Tuesday at Georgian Court.  Ruggeri then had a goal and an assist Saturday against Post.

Ruggeri continues to be on the hot pace that last year saw her named CACC Rookie of the Year, first team CCA All-East Region and first team all-league.  She is on a four-game goals streak, is first in the league with eight assists, first with 18 points and second with five goals.

The eight assists already has Ruggeri tied for ninth in school history and her 17 career is tied for fifth in team annals.  She also has 17 career goals and 51 career points, placing her just outside the top 10 in both.

It is the third consecutive week Ruggeri has been named to the Weekly Honor Roll.

Nanouski ended with 30 kills, 21 digs, five blocks and four aces over four matches.  She had 17 kills, seven digs, three blocks, two aces and a .314 hitting percentage Saturday in Goldey-Beacom's tough 3-1 loss at Pace.  Nanouski also had seven kills Tuesday against Holy Family and six digs Thursday at Jefferson.

Nanouski gives the Lighting strong play at the net as the young squad continues to develop.  She is 18th in the CACC with 92 kills, 24th with 12 aces and 44th with 73 digs.

Both teams are in action Wednesday with the women's soccer squad at Jefferson, beginning at 3:30 pm, and the volleyball unit home for a 7:00 pm match against Georgian Court.
