(2022 schedule)

Goldey-Beacom welcomes new leadership and brings back many talented players as the squad revealed its 2022 schedule.

The squad plays eight of its first nine matches on the road, including its usual four-match swing at Ramfest in West Chester starting August 26.  The lone home match in that span is September 3 against Mercy.

GBC plays its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener September 13 at home vs. Holy Family before traveling to Jefferson two days later to face the reigning league champion.  Other key September matches include September 21 against Georgian Court and six days later vs. Wilmington (DE), both at home.

October features nine home matches, highlighted by the College hosting a rebranded Homecoming and Lightning Family Weekend October 7-9.  The weekend's events include opportunities for alums to come back on campus to reunite with many friends and also see the many changes that many who continue to be part of the family help ignite.  It also will give an opportunity for parents to come on campus and spend time with their kids as part of an atmosphere filled with festivities and fun.

Goldey-Beacom that Saturday hosts Dominican (NY), beginning at 5:00 pm.

After hosting Jefferson on October 13, GBC two days later once again is home to face Bridgeport and West Chester in a tri-match.

The regular-season finale is November 4 in Pike Creek against Felician.

The top four teams in each of the two divisions (North and South) make the conference tournament.  The quarterfinals are November 7 and championship weekend is November 12-13 on the campus of Holy Family University in Philadelphia.

The Lightning once look to the strong play of senior setter Autumn Spendlove (Las Vegas, NV), who last summer was the College's nominee for NCAA Woman of the Year.  The two-time member of the CACC Academic Honor Roll possesses solid court awareness of the department's best teammates.  Spendlove ended last year fourth in the CACC with 8.59 assists per set and goes into this season seventh in team history with 1,673 assists.

Senior outside hitter Shayla Boyce (Somerdale, NJ) has been a solid player at the net during her time, helping her to be named third team All-CACC in 2018 and 2019.  One who is great a starting a rally and finishing it, Boyce goes into this year third in team annals with 985 kills and 10th with 105 aces.

Sophomore outside hitter Piper Nanouski (Ottawa, IL) was a key addition a season ago, giving Goldey-Beacom another option in a strong lineup.  Seeking to play an even bigger role, she closed last season 21st in the CACC with 33 aces, 28th with 237 digs, 29th with 219 kills and 29th with 2.15 kills per set.

This season also marks the debut of Taylor Rapuano as head coach.  Prior to serving the 2021 season as an assist, Rapuano was head coach at A.I. duPont High School during the 2020 campaign after she was the school's assistant coach and head JV coach the prior season.  She also was a digital design teacher for two years in the Red Clay Consolidated School District.
