Women’s Tennis Picked to End Fourth in the CACC

8/30/2022 12:00:00 AM

Goldey-Beacom, one of the top women's tennis programs in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, has been picked to end fourth based on a vote by the league's head coaches.

Junior Maria Bruno (Maracay, Venezuela) since 2018 has been one of the program's top all-round players and is back once again looking to score critical points both in singles and doubles.  The two-time member of the CACC Academic Honor Roll enters the campaign with 24 doubles triumphs and 18 singles victories.

Sophomore Macy Hendin-Walker (Ipswich, England) played a key role for the Lightning a season ago and twice was picked to the league's Weekly Honor Roll.  She had six singles wins that included a pair of three-match winning streaks and six doubles victories, opening the season with a five-match winning streak.

Seven newcomers grace the roster for second-year head coach Bernard Flowers and many have stood out early in practice looking to make an immediate statement for the Lightning.

With only six women's tennis teams in the CACC, this fall's slate will see each squad playing each other twice.

Goldey-Beacom this Saturday opens its season at the TCNJ Doubles Tournament in Ewing, NJ.
