Goldey-Beacom Sees Three Garner CACC Weekly Honors

8/29/2022 12:00:00 AM

A rare week one in August provided something that is not rare regarding Goldey-Beacom Athletics, weekly honors from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.

Angela Lee (Warren, RI) was picked the league's Women's Soccer Player of the Week, fellow sophomore Nikki Cashin (Ridley, PA) was tabbed to the sport's Weekly Honor Roll and senior Shayla Boyce (Somerdale, NJ) was named to Volleyball's Weekly Honor Roll.

Lee closed the week with two goals and an assist over two games.  All five of those points occurred Friday against Saint Thomas Aquinas, which resulted in a 5-0 Goldey-Beacom victory.

It was a solid performance after Lee put forth a strong freshman campaign over 13 matches.  She closed 16th in the league with five goals, 20th with 12 points, 29th with two assists and scored twice September 29 against Wilmington.

Cashin made four saves Friday in the shutout win and had a career-best eight saves Sunday in the squad's 2-1 loss at Bloomsburg.

Friday marked the first career shutout for Cashin, named All-Catholic League and All-DelCo at Archbishop Carroll High School.

Boyce reached her 1,000th career kill, ending the weekend with 23 kills over four matches.  She had nine kills Saturday against Millersville before recording seven later that day vs. Franklin Pierce.  Boyce also notched six kills Friday against West Chester.

It has been a standout career so far for Boyce, who is the third player in school history to reach quadruple digits and now stands second with 1,008 kills.  The 2018 and 2019 third team All-CACC pick also is 10th in program annals with 108 career aces.
