Goldey-Beacom College To Hold Rebranded Homecoming and Lightning Family Weekend October 8-9

Good times, reunions, fun, festivities and athletics games all are to be had this fall when Goldey-Beacom College's Department of Athletics holds its rebranded Homecoming and Lightning Family Weekend from October 8-9, 2022.

"I recently was with a small group of GBC alumni, some of whom didn't know one another," Goldey-Beacom College President Dr. Colleen Perry Keith said. "It was so fun to hear their stories and listen to everyone reminisce about days gone by. Their stories are what make Goldey-Beacom College unique. We are very excited to invite our GBC family to come back home for Homecoming 2022, to spend some time with one another and relive the fun memories of GBC… and selfishly for me, I want to hear all of those stories."

This year's festivities will have similar twists with many family activities that were a staple of past Homecomings. Everyone is welcome to see the many changes that have taken place in recent years and reunite with friends from years gone by.

Athletics events also will be held throughout the day Saturday the 8th on the Pike Creek campus with only one game going on at a time, giving the fans a full-day experience. The Lightning's schedule for that day is listed below.

A different twist is that many of the teams will hold their alumni games on that weekend, bringing more people together at the same time for a more festive atmosphere. Another change will see the Goldey-Beacom Athletics Hall of Fame Ceremony held during this weekend with the College inducting its fifth class. The event on Sunday the 9th brings a change from the first four ceremonies held in the spring and for the second straight year will be held on campus in the College's Events Center.

This weekend also will be an opportunity for prospective students to visit and learn more about what it means to be a Lightning. A College Information Session will be held with campus tours. More information on this portion of the event will follow.

"Whether your time at the College is in the past, present or future, we want you to come and enjoy a special weekend on our campus and be amongst our Lightning Family," Director of Athletics Jeremy Benoit said. "Our campus has grown a great deal in recent history and we're excited to hold events that allow us to share the growth with the alumni, students, parents and community partners who have helped lay the groundwork to make these things possible.
