Goldey-Beacom Men's & Women's Track and Field rounded out competition Wednesday during the field events, concluding participation in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship in Lakewood, NJ.
Standout freshman Karla Chardon (Penns Grove, N.J.) dominated, taking a first-place finish in the javelin throw at 42.01. Chardon is the first women's individual CACC Track & Field champion in school history, provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Championship, and the second combined between the two programs.
Junior Alexis Harrison (Millville, N.J.) secured a third-place finish in the discus throw at 36.68 meters, fourth in the shot put at 12.10 meters and 11th in both the hammer throw at 23.98 meters and the javelin throw at 20.41 meters.
In men's events, freshman Jacob Wells (New Port Richey, Fla.) took fifth place in the javelin thrower at 51.72 meters.
Junior Eli Taylor (Smyrna, Del.) placed fifth in the shot put at 12.92 meters and took ninth place in the discus throw at 31.72 meters.
Sophomore Jordan Cheaton (Middletown, Del.) grabbed a fifth-place finish in the discus throw at 38.91 meters and sixth place in the hammer throw at 33.14 meters.
Freshman Derek Ongeri (Smyrna, Del.) took seventh place in the high jump at 1.85 meters.
Freshman Manny Carranza (Milford, Del.) secured a ninth-place finish in the long jump at 6.05 meters. Teammate sophomore Khalil Proctor (Newark, Del.) placed 10th in the long jump at 5.92 meters.
Sophomore Alexia Cornish (Milford, Del.) placed eighth in the shot put at 10.82 meters.
Freshman Savannah Boyce (Somerdale, N.J.) placed ninth in the high jump at 1.48 meters. Teammate freshman Juanita Wiggins (Hampton, VA.) took 10th place in the long jump at 4.72 meters.
Junior Tiarah Martin (Federalsburg, MD) placed 10th in the hammer throw at 25.11 meters.
The men's squad took fifth place overall with 53 points. The women's team grabbed sixth place, totaling 48 points.
Goldey-Beacom now waits to hear the selected NCAA Championship participants that will be announced next Tuesday, May 17 on NCAA.com.
