Softball Drops Two at Wilmington (DE)

Goldey-Beacom went against one of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's best teams in Wilmington (DE) and was dealt a pair of losses, 10-1 and 15-6, at Asbury Field in New Castle, DE.

The Wildcats in game one took control with six runs in the fourth inning for a 7-0 lead, keyed by Tristyn Stewart's two-run single.  Courtney Dellinger also had an RBI fielder's choice in the frame.

Danielle Hess cracked a two-run triple in the fifth as part of Wilmington's three-run inning, making it a 10-0 game.

Goldey-Beacom got on the scoreboard in the last of the frame when freshman Kelly Forrest (Middletown, DE) had an RBI groundout to plate senior Jaeda Henriquez (Jersey City, NJ).

Kylee Gunkel (8-8) pitched great for Wilmington, allowing just one run and two hits over five innings with four strikeouts.

Wilmington in game two gained control with 10 runs in the second for an 11-1 lead.  Emma Zimmerman lined a two-run single, Adriana Bueno rocketed a three-run homer and Hess added a two-run blast as part of the inning's key hits.

Junior Bianca Newsom (Edison, NJ) had an RBI groundout for Goldey-Beacom in the third and Henriquez hit a two-run homer later in the frame for a 13-4 contest.  Bueno hit her second homer of the game with a solo shot in the fifth and Arianna Millan added a solo blast for a 16-4 margin.
