Goldey-Beacom split a pair of games, 1-0 and 10-5, against Holy Family University on Saturday in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matchup in Jackson Complex.
In game two, Holy Family took a 2-0 lead in the first inning after a two-run homer to center field by Alexis Letizia.
The Tigers extended the lead, 5-1, in the second inning capped by a groundout to second base by Letizia, scoring Devyn Dydak.
Goldey-Beacom tied the game and took a one run lead in the same inning. A single to left center by senior Chrissy Jordan (Pasadena, MD.) scored junior Carly Setting (Middletown, Del.) for a 5-5 tie. A double from sophomore Nicole Makin (Edgewater Park, NJ), scored Jordan, 6-5.
Goldey-Beacom had a field day in the third inning, adding five more runs to exhaust Holy Family in the final 10-5 victory.
Makin and sophomore Hannah Davis (Bethel, Del.) each had two hits and two RBI. Jordan two hits.
Sophomore Gwen Safin (Stroudsburg, PA.) pitched 5 2/3 relief innings recording the win (5-6), allowing no runs.
Solid defense from both squads made it difficult to gain runs in game one.
The sole run of the ball game came from leadoff hitter Abbey Smith who scored on a wild pitch to secure the 1-0 win for the Tigers.
Makin recorded a hit in the effort.
Ashley Remington recorded 12 strikeouts for Holy Family.
