Track & Field Gains More Qualifiers at Morgan State Legacy

Goldey-Beacom Men's & Women's Track and Field had a busy weekend as the teams concluded day two at the Widener Invitational and traveled to Baltimore, MD on Saturday to compete in the Morgan State Legacy meet. 

In Men's track events, freshman Nehemiah Frazier (Laurel, MD.) secured a first-place finish in the Men's 3000-meter steeplechase 11:48.48. Sophomore DJ Farren (Lewes, Del.) took second place in the 3000-meter steeplechase 12:20.24. 

Freshman Hezakiah Ali-Bently (Dover, Del.) closed in fifth place in the Men's 400-meter hurdles at 58.06. Teammate freshman Tyler Green (Middletown, Del.) closed in seventh place in the Men's 400-meter dash at 49.30. 

From the field, sophomore Khalil Proctor (Newark, Del.) placed 23rd in the Men's long jump at 5.43 meters. 

In Women's Track events, sophomore Mikayla Cannon (Felton, Del.) took second place in the 5000-meter run at 20:24.11. 

Freshman Maddie Cool (Smyrna, Del.) third place in the 5000-meter run at 23:19.48. Sophomore Zhuri Cannon (Columbia, MD.) closed in ninth place in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:18.03. 

Sophomore Lilly Crone (Felton Del.) placed ninth in the 1500-meter run at 6:15.73. 

In field events, freshman Ida Rose Moore (Bear, Del.) secured a fourth-place finish in the long jump at 5.14 meters. 

Sophomore Damia White (Bridgeton, N.J.) took 13th place in the shot put at 8.11 meters. 

Remarks from head coach Andy Shearer, ""This weekend, GBCTF sent our throws squad north to Widener and everyone else south to Morgan State.  With one more meet before CACCs, it's important to not just be attending, but competing!  It's coming fast, and the athletes are starting to realize it." 

The Lightning after this weekend's performances added three more auto qualifiers & two more provisional for the Women's squad and the Men added two more automatics and four more provisional marks. 

Goldey-Beacom sends its Men's 4 x 100 and Men's 4 x 400 relay teams to compete in the Penn Relays on Friday, April 29. The event begins at 1:20pm.
