Goldey-Beacom dropped two games on the road, 17-0 and 9-1, to Caldwell University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matchup in Caldwell, NJ.
The Cougars took control early in game one, capitalizing on fielding errors to extend their lead, paired with an assertive offense to leave the Lightning scoreless in game one.
Junior Bianca Newsom (Edison, N.J.) recorded a hit in the effort.
Freshman Morgan McLane (Clayton, Del.) pitched 2 1/3 innings (6-5), for the Lightning.
In game two, Goldey-Beacom gained a run in the first inning after a single to center field by freshman Devon Ellixson (Mullica Hill, N.J.) scored senior Jaeda Henriquez (Jersey City, N.J.), 1-0.
Caldwell tied and took the lead in the same inning after a single to left field by Allison Winters to score Jessica Klein, 1-1. A single up the middle for two RBI from Ashleigh Tavaska scored Taylor Mischler and Winters to secure a 3-1 lead.
The Cougars retained control for the remainder of the ball game as the Lightning were unable to respond in the final 9-1 defeat.
Ellixson had one hit and one RBI. Sophomore Hannah Davis (Bethel, Del.) recorded one hit.
Ellixson also pitched a pair of innings (2-2), striking out one for the Lightning (18-19, 6-12 CACC).
Goldey-Beacom hosts Washington Adventist on Friday in a non-conference double header starting at 3pm.
