Track & Field Competes at Millersville Metrics

Goldey-Beacom Men's & Women's Track and Field had a solid showing at the Millersville Metrics meet on Saturday in Millersville, PA. 

Goldey-Beacom's relay teams recorded a second week of top five finishes. In the Men's 4 x 400 relay, Goldey-Beacom Team A of senior Hamza Barnes (Philadelphia, PA.), freshman's Hezakiah Ali-Bentley (Dover, Del.) and Tyler Green (Middletown, Del.) and junior Brian Mohamed (Newark, Del.) secured a third-place finish at a time of 3:26.31. 

The Women's 4 x 100-meter relay team of juniors Kayla Cook (Hebron, MD.) and Asia Hollis (Rising Sun, MD.), and freshman's Ellonah Lewis (North East, MD.) and Juanita Wiggins (Hampton, VA.) secured a fifth-place finish at a time of 51.24. 

On the Women's side, sophomore Mikayla Cannon (Felton, Del.) recorded a third-place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase at a time of 12:56.59. 

Cook also took a seventh-place finish in the 200-meter dash at 26.98. 

From the field, junior Alexis Harrison (Millville, N.J.) placed sixth in the discus throw at 36.90 meters. 

Freshman Ida Rose Moore (Bear, Del.) took ninth place in the long jump at 4.96 meters. Teammate freshman Savannah Boyce (Somerdale, N.J.) placed ninth in the high jump at 1.47 meters. 

On the Men's side, sophomore Zach Landvik-Larsen (Stroudsburg, PA.) took a fifth-place finish in the 1000-meter run at a time of 33:32.25. 

Barnes recorded a third-place finish in the 400-meter run at 50.92. 

Freshman York Miles placed sixth in the 800-meter run at 1:58.93. Ali-Bentley also took sixth place in the 400-meter hurdles at 59.60. 

In Men's field events, freshman Manny Carranza (Milford, Del.) recorded a third-place finish in the triple jump at 12.65 meters and a fourth-place finish in the long jump at 6.43 meters 

Sophomore Khalil Proctor (Newark, Del.) took a fifth-place finish in the long jump at 6.34 meters. 

Junior Eli Taylor (Smyrna, Del.) closed 10th in the shot put at 13.42 meters. 

The Men closed fifth with 38.5 points while the Women closed 15th with 15 points on the day.
 
Head coach Andy Shearer on today's peformances, "Today was a great set-up for the run-up to the CACC meet in May.  We're getting a good feel for our strengths and weaknesses.  Both squads are looking very competitive."

Goldey-Beacom travels to West Chester, PA on Saturday to compete in the Golden Ram Invitational. Events begin at 10:30am.
