Goldey-Beacom played tough on day two, falling 6-4 against Keiser University in game one game and 15-3 loss to Madonna University in game two of the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic.
In game one, Goldey-Beacom jumped to a four-run lead in the third inning. Sophomore Hannah Davis (Bethel, Del.) led off scoring with a two run RBI single up the middle, scoring juniors Bianca Newsom (Edison, N.J.) and Kayla Vaillancourt (Edgewater, MD.), 2-0.
A ground out to the pitcher, scored freshman Carly Setting (Middletown, Del.) followed by a single up the middle from senior Chrissy Jordan (Pasadena, MD.), scoring Davis for the 4-0 lead.
Keiser tied the game in the fifth inning capped by a single to the second baseman by Alex Latoria, scoring Lizzy Small, 4-4. Keiser took the lead and got the job done from the field in the sixth inning.
A home run to left field by Cassie Querry propelled the lead 5-4 and an RBI single through the right side by Caroline Austin, drove home Kassie Reid in the 6-4 final victory.
Sophomore Nicole Makin (Edgewater Park, MD.) and Jordan each recorded a pair of hits. Davis added two RBI in the game.
Freshman Devon Ellixson (Mullica Hill, N.J.) threw four and two-third innings, striking out four (1-2).
In game two of the day, Madonna jumped out to a 3-0 lead capped by a sacrifice fly to right field by Jenna Gilbert that scored Kattie Popko. Madonna capitalized on an error in the second inning that scored Amy Clegg (4-0).
Goldey-Beacom cut into the lead in the same inning when freshman Abby Husser (Bethlehem, PA.) stole home, 4-1.
In the third inning, Madonna extended the lead further, adding four more runs capped by a double line drive to center field by Popko to score Alissa Gauthier and Chylece Cluck, 9-1. The Lightning added two runs of their own after Makin doubled on a fly ball to center field, scoring Setting and Davis, 9-3.
Setting has a hit in all eight contests this season and Makin has a hit in seven games.
Madonna had all the momentum in the sixth inning, however, solidifying the win with six runs in the final 15-3 victory.
Freshman Morgan McLane (Clayton, Del.) pitched three innings, striking out four while allowing a single hit (2-2).
Goldey Beacom gets a rest day on Tuesday and continues play in the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in a Wednesday doubleheader. Game one is against Malone University at 1:30pm on NMB Field 1 followed by game two against Barton College at 5:30pm on NMB Field 6.
