Goldey-Beacom opened Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play on Monday, facing a doubleheader loss by scores of 13-5 and 5-4 to Felician University in Wood-Ridge, N.J.

In game two, Goldey-Beacom jumped to a 4-0 lead in the fourth inning capped by a ground out to the shortstop by sophomore Nicole Makin (Edgewater Park, N.J.) that scored junior Bianca Newsom (Edison, N.J.).

Felician pieced together a pair of runs in the fifth inning to cut into the lead after Mia Martinez reached on a fielding error by the shortstop, advanced to second, to score Jaylene Sierra, 4-2.

A seventh-inning double to left center RBI by Martinez, drove home Sierra, Alexis Velotta and Johanna Rivera in the final 5-4 victory.

Freshman Abby Husser (Bethlehem, PA.) pitched six innings (2-4), striking out five and walking one.

In game one, the Golden Falcons took a 3-0 lead in the first inning capped by a single through the right side by Daisha Howard for the RBI double, scoring Martinez and Sierra.

The Lightning tied the game, 3-3, in the third inning on a sacrifice fly by senior Jaeda Henriquez (Jersey City, N.J.) to score Carly Setting (Middletown, Del.). A home run to left field by senior Chrissy Jordan (Pasadena, MD.) lifted the Lightning, 4-3.

A huge six run third inning for Felician took and extended the lead once more, 10-4. Goldey-Beacom cut into the lead in the fourth inning on a single to center field by Setting to score sophomore Hannah Davis (Bethel, Del.), 10-5.

It was not enough to hold off the Golden Falcons, however, putting up three more runs to exhaust the Lightning in the final 13-5 victory.

Setting recorded a pair of RBIs.

Sophomore Gwen Safin (Stroudsburg, PA.) threw 2 1/3 innings, walking one (3-3) for the Lightning (8-9, 0-2 CACC).
