Goldey-Beacom faced a 7-0 setback against Division I Delaware on Sunday in a non-conference matchup in Newark.
The Blue Hens secured the doubles point 3-0. First team doubles pair in sophomores Salome Lang (Panazol, France) and Maria Bruno (Maracay, Venezuela) grabbed two games over Alina Vasilenko and Dominika Sujova, but faced a 6-2 loss.
The second doubles team in sophomores Kristin Radeke (Bremen, Germany) and Andrea Fresneda (Valencia, Spain) took two games over Eliza Askarova and Smanatha Svendsen, but fell to a 6-2 loss. Third team doubles paring in sophomores Imane Van Veen (Paris, France) and Elin Anderson (Conwy, Wales) faced a 6-0 setback to Isabella Montana and Julieta Honrubia.
Bright spots for the Lightning included Lang recording three games against Askarova in a 0-6, 3-6 defeat at No. 1 singles. Van Veen at No. 3 singles took one game over Honrubia, 1-6, 0-6. Fresneda at No. 4 singles took three games over Svendsen, 3-6, 0-6. At No. 5 singles, Bruno recorded five game over Sujova, 1-6, 4-6. Anderson at No. 6 singled retired against Montana, 7-5, 0-5.
Goldey-Beacom hosts West Chester University on March 24. Match time is set for 11am.
