Goldey-Beacom Men's & Women's Track and Field had a great showing at the Monarch Invitational on Saturday as the teams traveled to Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
It was a huge day for both the Men's and Women's Relay teams, as each took a first-place finish. In the Men's 4 x 400 heat teammates senior Hamza Barnes (Philadelphia, PA.), junior Brian Mohamed (Newark, Del.) and freshman's York Miles and A'mair Buffaloe (Prospect Park, N.J.) closed at a time of 3:31.86.
In the Women's 4 x 100 relay, juniors Asia Hollis (Rising Sun, MD.) and Kayla Cook (Hebron, MD.) and freshman's Ellonah Lewis (North East, MD.) and Juanita Wiggins (Hampton, VA.) at a time of 51.69.
In Men's track events, sophomore Edmond Jones (Wayne, N.J.) recorded a first-place finish in the 100-meter dash at 11.66.
Reigning CACC Track Athlete of the Week in sophomore Zach Landvik-Larsen (Stroudsburg, PA.) recorded a second-place finish in the 5000-meter run at 16:09.42.
A pair of second place finishes for Buffaloe in the 200-meter dash at 23.19 and in the 400-meter dash at 53.58.
Ali-Bently added a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles at 58.39. Freshman Tyler Green (Middletown, Del.) secured a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash at 23.36.
Freshman York Miles recorded a fourth-place finish in the 1500-meter race at a time of 4:17.47.
Sophomore Emmanuel Otsyina (Aston, PA.) took fourth place in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:04.16. Barnes also added a fifth-place finish in the 800-meter run at 2:05.89.
In Men's Field events, freshman Jacob Wells (New Port Richey, FLA.) secured a first-place finish in the javelin throw at 53.60 meters.
Freshman Manny Carranza (Milford, Del.) secured a second-place finish in the long jump at 6.36 meters and a fourth-place finish in the triple-jump at 12.55 meters.
Junior Eli Taylor (Smyrna, Del.) placed second in the shot put 13.17 meters. Taylor added a fifth-place finish in the discus throw at 37.20 meters.
Sophomore Jordan Cheaton (Middletown, Del.) recorded a third-place finish in the discus throw at 38.64 meters. Cheaton added two fourth-place finishes in the hammer throw at 23.31 meters and the shot put at 11.13 meters.
Sophomore Khalil Proctor (Newark, Del.) took a fifth-place finish in the long jump at 6.06 meters.
In Women's fielding events, junior Alexis Harrison (Millville, N.J.) secured a first-place finish in the shot put at 11.37 meters. Harrison also took a second-place finish in the discus throw at 35.26 meters.
Freshman Savannah Boyce (Somerdale, N.J.) placed second in the high jump at 1.47 meters. Sophomore Star Beasley (Cherry Hill, N.J.) took third place in the high jump at 1.44 meters.
Sophomore Alexia Cornish (Milford, Del.) took fifth place in the shot put at 10.49 meters.
On the track, sophomore Camilla Flagg (Mardela Springs, MD) secured a fifth-place finish in the 800-meter run at 2:35.08.
Wiggins added a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter dash at 13.34.
Remarks from head coach Andy Shearer, "Today we moved a lot of athletes into different events for a change of pace, with some unexpectedly good results. It's a great feeling to know that they're willing to try something new."
Goldey-Beacom travels to Millersville, PA on Saturday, April 2 to compete in the Millersville Metrics. Events begin at 9:30am.
