Goldey-Beacon split a pair on Friday, winning game one 6-1 against Iowa Wesleyan and falling 4-1 in game two against Barton College on the final day of the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in Little River, SC.
In game one, Goldey-Beacom got the offense going in the third inning on a sacrifice fly to left field by freshman Carly Setting (Middletown, Del.) to score junior Bianca Newsom (Edison, N.J.). A monster three-run home run by freshman Kelly Forrest (Middletown, Del.) scored sophomore Nicole Makin (Edgewater Park, N.J.) and Henriquez for an electric 5-0 lead to shut down the Tigers.
Goldey-Beacom added one last run in the seventh inning when Newsom singled on a hard grounder to left field to score Forrest.
Iowa Wesleyan obtained a run in the same inning as Ariana Wolfard scored on a fielding error by the shortstop, but it was not enough as the Lightning conquered in a 6-1 final victory.
Henriquez closed 3-for-3 and freshman Cat Nelson (Wilmington, Del.) secured the win (1-2) by pitching five innings with three strikeouts and no runs allowed for the Lightning.
In game two, Barton took a 2-0 lead in the second inning capped by a sacrifice bunt to the pitcher by Mccrae Knapp to score Kandyce Condrey.

The Lightning gained a run after Newsom grounded out to the second baseman, scoring freshman Alex Lowry (Wenonah, NJ) for a 4-1 game. Solid fielding from each team forced an end to runs as Barton took the final 4-1 victory over Goldey-Beacom.
Miranda Holmes is credited for the win on the mound, pitching five innings allowing two hits, a single run and striking out four.
Sophomore Gwen Safin (Stroudsburg, PA) threw six innings striking out two for the Lightning (5-4).
