Despite a valiant first half effort, Goldey-Beacom fell just short in a 70-62 loss against a tough Georgian Court side at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

The first half showed relatively even play. The Lightning grabbed a 18-14 lead with 7:21 left following a layup by sophomore
David Aikens (Absecon, NJ). However, the Lions finished the quarter with a 14-2 scoring run, with 10 points from Jamaal Waters, to give them a 30-23 lead.

The scoring following halftime continued to bounce back-and-forth. Sophomore
Trey Lewis (Herndon, VA) attempted to break the consistent play of the Lions, hitting two three-pointers on back-to-back offenses. Despite the effort, the Lightning were forced to take a timeout following an 8-0 run to give the Lions an 11-point lead with just over 14 minutes left.

With 11 minutes left, junior
Mekhi Collins' (Medford, MA) and-one play began the Lightning's 7-0 scoring run to give them a chance at the win and bring the deficit to within five. With five minutes to go, a three-pointer by junior
Damani Thomas (Kingston, NY)Â brought the Lightning to trailing by just two points.

Consistent play, a solid defensive effort, and back-to-back three-pointers from Jelani Jackson, gave the Lions the final push to claim the victory, outscoring the Lightning 12-6 in the final two minutes.

The Lions (4-3, 2-0 CACC) held the Lightning to 4-from-23 from three-point range. Walters led with 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting and four steals, and Clint Wright, Jr. notched 16 points.

Aikens closed with 15 points and four assists,
Zayon Marsh (Maplewood, NJ) recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Lewis netted 11 points for the Lightning (3-4, 1-1 CACC).
