Zayon Marsh Rallies Men’s Basketball to 97-89 Triumph Over Holy Family



Freshman Zayon Marsh (Maplewood, NJ) attained a new career high in points, netting 33 to help Goldey-Beacom rally for a 97-89 triumph over Holy Family in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.
 
The majority of the lead belonged to the Lightning, leading 48-43 at halftime. With 14 minutes left in the second half, the Lightning began a 13-5 scoring run to give them a 10-point lead, with seven coming from Marsh.
 
With 3 ½ minutes left, a layup from Eric Esposito brought the Tigers to within 83-86. Play for the rest of the game went in favor of the Lightning, finishing the game with an 11-6 scoring run. The Lightning forced nine turnovers of Holy Family's 10 turnovers in the second half, converting on seven of those to lead points off turnovers 14-2.
 
Marsh shot 13-of-26 from the floor to go with seven rebounds and five steals. Along with points, Marsh established career highs in field goals made and steals. He was named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week last week.
 
Junior Ayshion Centeno (Pleasantville, NJ) also continues to impress, notching 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting. Freshman Omari Banks (Middletown, DE) added 13 points and seven rebounds, while fellow sophomore Tyshon Judge (Merchantville, NJ) added 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists for GBC (3-3, 1-0 CACC).   
 
Esposito finished with 18 points, Tazir Cantey added 15, and Rick'Keem Mixson notched 14 points and seven rebounds for the Tigers (5-3, 0-2 CACC).
 
Goldey-Beacom is home next Tuesday, hosting Georgian Court as part of a double header with the women's team. The women tip off at 6:00pm, and the men follow at 8:00pm.
