Men's Basketball Plays Solidly in 68-62 Loss at Southern New Hampshire

Despite a solid battle, Goldey-Beacom were not rewarded in the way they would have hoped, being dealt a 68-62 loss at Southern New Hampshire in Manchester, NH.

The first half had both teams trading baskets, until a 14-0 run by the Lightning gave them the spark to notch a 33-29 lead before the half. Sophomore Tyshon Judge (Merchantville, NJ) notched eight of those points.

The second half began in the Penmen's favor, with Jordan Braithwaite canning back-to-back three-pointers to begin a 17-0. A final spark with 4:48 to go gave the Lightning a 12-2 run, but it was not enough to capture the lead. Junior Damani Thomas (Kingston, NY) scored five points in that time, while Judge added four.

The Lightning held the Penmen to 31 percent shooting in the first half but the Penmen could not be stopped in the second, shooting 45 percent from the floor and 42 percent from three-point range.

Judge closed the game with 17 points and seven rebounds, sophomore David Aikens (Absecon, NJ) netted 15 points on 7-of-11 shooting to go with seven rebounds, and Thomas finished with 12 for GBC (4-7, 1-1 CACC).

Braithwaite scored 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting and five three-pointers, Matt Becht closed with 15 points, and Ethan Okwuosa added 12 points and nine rebounds for Southern New Hampshire (5-6, 2-3 NE10).

Goldey-Beacom close their New Hampshire trip with a trip to Rindge, NH on Monday to face Franklin Pierce at 3:30pm.
