Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women’s Basketball Falls to Millersville

Goldey-Beacom came out firing in the second half, but a first-half surge by Millersville was the key in dealing the home side a 93-64 loss at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

Millersville in the opening half raced to a 48-28 lead by shooting 47 percent (16-of-34) from the field that included 59 percent (10-of-17) in the second quarter.  Taylor Langan netted 12 points in that span for the Marauders.

The Lightning at the start of the second half came out of the locker room rejuvenated by scoring eight straight points in just under a minute, moving to 50-36 with 8:15 left in the third quarter.  Freshman Rory Ciszkowski (Wilmington, DE) and junior Mickey Williams (Wamboin, Australia) each canned a 3-pointer with senior Alanna Speaks (Dover, DE) adding a layup and two assists.

But the Marauders (3-1) kept the ship afloat by shooting 50 percent (8-of-16) from the field in the third and 46 percent (5-of-11) in the fourth to gain a 45-36 edge on the scoreboard.

Senior Mone Izumi (Fukuoka, Japan) equaled her season best with 10 points, senior Alexis Harrison (Millville, NJ) scored 10, Ciszkowski poured in nine with Williams adding eight for the Lightning (2-3), who shot 43 percent (26-of-61) from the floor.

Langdan was almost impossible to stop, netting 23 points to go with seven rebounds over a game-high 36 minutes.  Marin Miller, Makiah Shaw and Morgan Mahoney all poured in 11 points with La'Shyra Williams adding 10 for Millersville.

Goldey-Beacom is off until next November 30, when it hosts Bowie State for a 6:00 pm game.
