Goldey-Beacom's second-half push allowed it to claim a 104-96 non-conference win over Staten Island in Staten Island, NY.
After a relatively even first half, the Lightning found themselves 48-41 down going into halftime. Junior
Ayshion Centeno (Pleasantville, NJ) led the push out of halftime, canning nine points to bring the Lightning to trail 53-50 just over two minutes into the half.

Tyshon Judge (Merchantville, NJ) netted back-to-back 3-pointers with 14 minutes left to give the Lightning a 64-59 lead. The Dolphins took the lead once more at 92-90 with 3:41 to go, but the Lightning were not phased. A game-tying layup by
Zayon Marsh (Maplewood, NJ) leveled the score with 3:19 left, and a final dunk from Judge with 2:17 left gave the Lightning the final boost that they needed. The Lightning went on a final 9-6 run to seal their win.
Judge closed with 28 points on 8-of-13 shooting and 3-of-4 from 3-point range, also adding four assists.
Sophomore
David Aikens (Absecon, NJ) had another impressive showing, finishing with 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting, and five rebounds. Marsh added 19 points, eight rebounds and three assists for the Lightning.
GBC (1-1) outscored its opponents 63-48 in the second half with 22 second-chance points in comparison to the Dolphins' three.
Luis Armas scored 25 points, James Chestnut had 20 points and four assists with Bryce Waterman getting 18 points for the Dolphins (0-2).
Goldey-Beacom faces District of Columbia on Wednesday at 7pm in Washington, DC.
