With the final spot in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament on the line, Goldey-Beacom fell a tad short in a tough 4-3 loss against Post at Delcastle Tennis Center in Wilmington, DE.

Things were very optimistic early for the Lightning, who grabbed the doubles point.  Freshmen Zehra Canbaz (Denizli, Turkey) and Hannah Brandl (Neufeld, Austria) got a 6-3 triumph at No. 2 doubles over Oceane Mallevre and Nina Langenfeld with sophomore Macy Hendin-Walker (Ipswich, England) and freshman Jess Sanzo (Bristol, England) recording a 6-3 triumph at third doubles over Megan Lambardt and Natalia Gonzalez.

The Eagles won the first two decided singles points to grab a 2-1 lead.  Micaela Rosignuolo recorded a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over junior Maria Bruno (Maracay, Venezuela) at third singles before Mallevre notched a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Hendin-Walker at No. 4 singles.

The Lightning struck back and got the tie level, 2-2, with Sanzo getting a 6-3, 6-3 triumph at No. 6 singles over Gonzalez.  The lead then swung Goldey-Beacom's way with Canbaz, named today to the league's Weekly Honor Roll, rolling to a 6-3, 6-3 win at second singles against Lambardt.

The match at first singles was a battle that easily could have swung in either direction, but it was Annunciata De-Souza getting the Eagles level with a 7-5, 6-3 triumph over sophomore Elizabeth Mova (Sevastopol, Ukraine).

Everything came down to fifth singles and it looked like Brandl had all the momentum when she got a 6-2 triumph in the second set to force a decider.  But Langenfeld held off two game points at deuce on her serve in the third set and gutted out a 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 victory.

Goldey-Beacom (3-7, 3-7 CACC) recorded a solid fall in which it sported seven newcomers and continued its climb to once again reach the CACC summit.  Canbaz notched four singles victories with Bruno and Mova combining for five doubles triumphs.

Post (10-5, 5-5) clinched the third seed in the CACC Tournament and will face No. 2 Jefferson in the semifinals Friday after 1:00 pm at Delcastle.  Top-seeded Wilmington plays No. 4 Chestnut Hill in the first semifinal at 10:00 am.
