Three for Goldey-Beacom Picked for CACC Weekly Honorees

Goldey-Beacom saw sophomore Patrick Short (Georgetown, DE) named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week with sophomores Alyssa Ruggeri (Hockessin, DE) and Nikki Cashin (Ridley, PA) named to the Women's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll.
 
Short closed with two goals and an assist over two games.  He scored Wednesday in Goldey-Beacom's 1-1 tie with Chestnut Hill and then had a goal and an assist Saturday in his squad's 2-2 draw against Dominican (NY).
 
Short once again has put forth another strong campaign, pacing the Lightning with four goals and 10 points.  He now is at eight career goals and 19 career points.
 
Ruggeri closed with two goals and two assists over two games.  She scored twice Tuesday in Goldey-Beacom's 4-0 victory over Chestnut Hill before getting two assists Saturday in the team's 3-2 win against Dominican (NY).
 
Ruggeri this season has picked up where she left off after being tabbed CACC Rookie of the Year, first team CCA All-East Region and first team All-CACC.  She now is tied for third in program history with 21 career assists, seventh outright with 67 points and eighth with 23 goals.  Ruggeri's 12 assists this season are tied for the school lead and her 34 points are fifth.
 
Ruggeri is second in the country in assists, sixth in points and 15th with 11 goals.  She leads the conference in all three categories.
 
Cashin made six saves in recording a pair of victories.  She had three saves Tuesday against Chestnut Hill before duplicating that feat Saturday against Dominican (NY).
 
Taking over the starting role net this season, Cashin has played exceptionally well in sitting sixth in the league with 61 saves and seventh with a 1.60 goals-against average.
 
Goldey-Beacom (7-6, 5-3 CACC) is on a four-game winning streak and goes into Monday's game at Caldwell tied for fourth place in the CACC at 15 points with Holy Family (4-1-3) and Chestnut Hill (4-2-3).  The top four teams host a quarterfinal October 31 in the CACC Tournament.
 
After Monday, Goldey-Beacom hosts Holy Family on Thursday at 3:00 pm in Wilmington, DE.
