Women’s Tennis Dominates in 7-0 Win Over Dominican (NY)

Goldey-Beacom kept the momentum going in its quest of reaching the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament, notching a 7-0 victory over Dominican (NY) at Delcastle Tennis Center in Wilmington, DE.
 
The Lightning won the doubles point with a pair of solid victories to go with a forfeit triumph at third doubles.  Junior Maria Bruno (Maracay, Venezuela) and sophomore Elizabeth Mova (Sevastopol, Ukraine) recorded a 6-4, 6-2 triumph at first doubles over Bipasha Mehn and Rupkatha Mukherjee with freshmen Zehra Canbaz (Denizli, Turkey) and Hannah Brandl (Neufeld, Austria) notching a 6-2 victory over Vanya Tyagi and Nora Frederick at No. 2 doubles.
 
GBC got a forfeit win at sixth singles before going to work on the court.  Bruno rolled to a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles over Tyagi, Canbaz got a 6-2, 6-3 victory at second singles over Mukherjee, Brandl recorded a 6-3, 6-2 triumph at No. 4 singles against Frederick with sophomore Macy Hendin-Walker (Ipswich, England) notching a 6-2, 6-0 win at fifth singles over Ava O'Brien.
 
Mova got a battle at first singles from Bipasha Mehn, but continued her red-hot play with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles.
 
Goldey-Beacom (3-6, 3-6 CACC) sits fifth in the CACC with one match remaining, trailing third place Post (4-5) and Chestnut Hill (4-5).  The top four teams go to the CACC Tournament with Wilmington (9-0) locked into the one seed and Jefferson at No. 2.
 
Goldey-Beacom ends its regular season Tuesday against Post.  Match time at Delcastle Tennis Center is at 1:00 pm.
