Women’s Basketball Dealt Tough Overtime Loss at Nyack

Goldey-Beacom let a fourth-quarter lead get away and could not find the scoring touch in overtime for an 89-81 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss to Nyack in Jersey City, NJ.

The Lightning held a 64-58 lead with just under six minutes left before the Warriors scored the next 14 points for a 72-64 margin with 1:13 remaining.  Sarah Round (Northampton, England) drilled a 3-pointer with 62 seconds remaining to get GBC within 72-67 and fellow junior Alexis Harrison (Millville, NJ) made a layup with 36 seconds left for a three-point game.

Each team committed a turnover before Nyack (4-6, 3-2 CACC) hit once from the line with 31 seconds to go for a 73-69 contest.  Sophomore Briana Seltzer (Reading, PA) made a layup with 27 seconds left and the Lightning got the ball back when the Warriors threw it away.

GBC took full advantage as Harrison drove in the lane and her layup with 10 seconds to go forged a 73-73 tie.

Nyack in overtime seemingly scored on every possession, opening on a 9-2 run for an 82-75 lead with 2:28 remaining.  Harrison made two free throws to get GBC within five, but the home side shot 7-for-12 from the stripe the rest of the way.
