Goldey-Beacom Women's Tennis on Saturday competed for the first time since March 12, 2020, capturing a 5-2 victory over Molloy College in a non-conference matchup at Delcastle Tennis Center in Wilmington, DE.
The Lightning opened the season by taking the doubles point. The second team doubles pair of sophomores Kristin Radeke (Bremen, Germany) and Andrea Fresneda (Valencia, Spain) secured a 6-3 win over Alyssa Baur and Bri Gonzalez. The No. 3 doubles pair in sophomore Elin Anderson (Conwy, Wales) and freshman Macy Hendin-Walker (Ipswich, England) followed with a 6-0 win over Gwen Kelly and Kailey Chin for the doubles point.
In the singles matchups, sophomore Maria Bruno (Maracay, Venezuela) recorded a 6-1, 6-4 win at No.3 singles over Gonzalez. Fresneda at No. 4 singles notched a 6-0, 6-0 win over Brooke Williams.
Anderson at No. 5 singles took home a win scoring at 6-1, 6-0 over Amanda Oppedisano. Rounding out the victory for the Lightning, Hendin-Walker at No. 6 singles secured a 6-0, 6-0 win over Kelly.
Goldey-Beacom is back in action on September 25 as it hosts Jefferson University to lead off Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action, starting at 4:30 PM.
