5/11/2021 12:00:00 AM

Goldey-Beacom's track & field teams, in just their second competitive seasons, each have cracked the East Region rankings according to United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association with the men listed 15th and the women 19th.

Of that list, the men are the fourth highest ranked team among those from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and the women are fifth.

Among the many top athletes on the men's side is freshman Zach Landvik-Larsen (Stroudsburg, PA), who was just named CACC Men's Track Rookie of the Week after winning the 3,000-meter run in 10:33.58 at the Wolverine Last Chance Meet.  He also has excelled this year in the 1,500-meter and 5,000-meter runs, which should come as no surprise with him being 2019 CACC Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Year and an all-conference pick.

Freshman Zaid Barnes (Philadelphia, PA) also has been a tremendous addition, being tabbed CACC Field Athlete and Rookie of the Week on March 31 after winning the long jump at 6.51 meters and triple jump at 12.93 meters at the Millersville Little Meet.  He also closed third in the triple jump at the Delaware State Sting Meet, to go with closing seventh in the triple jump at the Paul Kaiser Classic and 10th the same day in the long jump.

Sophomore Eli Taylor (Smyrna, DE) has been tearing it up on the field side, winning the shot put at the Wolverine Last Chance Meet at 13.22 meters to make the CACC Weekly Honor Roll.  He also was third in the shot put at 12.46 at the All-American Meet in East Stroudsburg and fifth the same day in the discus at 36.95 meters.

The women's side has been boosted all year by two-sport sophomore Alexis Harrison (Millville, NJ), who has posted 11 top-three finishes this year.  Among that includes winning the discus by covering 35.48 meters at the Salisbury Invitational and the shot put at 11.53 meters during the Millersville Little Meet.  Also a member of the women's basketball team, Harrison has two second-place finishes in the shot put and one in the discus.

Freshman Camilla Flagg (Mardela Springs, MD) also been impressive this year, winning her heat and ending 13th overall in the 1,500-meter run at Salisbury by closing in 5:31.51.  She was second in the 3,000-meter run at Delaware State in 12:28.07 and also has competed in the 800-meter run along with the 4x400-meter relay squad, who closed second in 4:42.58 at the Wolverine Last Chance Meet.

Freshman Angel Williams (Millsboro, DE) got placed on the CACC Weekly Honor Roll when she ended fifth in the shot put at 8.80 meters, seventh in the discus at 27.09 meters and seventh in the javelin at 19.14 meters at the Delaware State Sting Meet.  She also closed second in the shot put at 9.67 meters and fourth in the discus at 27.67 meters at Millersville.

Both teams will be ready to go when they compete at the CACC Championships later this week in Lakewood, NJ.  The men's championship is Friday and the women's is Sunday with both starting at 10:00 am.
