Goldey-Beacom ran into a tough foe in Concordia (NY) College and fell by scores of 8-0 and 3-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest in Bronxville, NY.
The Clippers had their way in game one with bases loaded, Carly Berezny hit a double to right center in the second inning for the 5-0 lead. The fourth inning sealed the win after Ellen Little hit a homer to left field for the 8-0 win.
Freshman Gwen Safin (Stroudsburg, PA) went 2-for-2 with junior Zoe Lockwood (Chesapeake City, MD) also getting two hits.
In game two, the Clippers kept their momentum over the Lightning. A single to center field by Adriana Flori, stealing second on the throw, scored Kiana Sauter for the 2-0 lead. A wild pitch in the fifth inning drove Stephanie Ryder home for the 3-0 win.
Junior Jaeda Henriquez (Jersey City, NJ) hit a double in the ball game.
Ashley Walsh gained the win pitching seven innings, allowing a single hit, no walks and struck out three.
Goldey-Beacom hosts the University of the Sciences on Wednesday in a doubleheader starting at 2:30 pm.
