Goldey-Beacom was victorious, winning 5-3 over Nyack in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matchup.
In the third inning, senior Kasey Goshorn (Salisbury, MD) singled to right field driving in Brooke Conaty (Wilmington, DE) and fellow freshman Hannah Davis (Bethel DE) home to bring the game to 3-2.
With bases loaded in the fifth inning, sophomore Braydee Whitman (Dagsboro, DE) hit a sacrifice fly to right field allowing junior Zoe Lockwood (Chesapeake City, MD) to score. In the same play, Davis scored on an obstruction by the third baseman.
The Lightning sealed the win after Conaty reached first on an error by the short stop, scoring senior Kylie Quirk (Newark, DE).
Junior Chrissy Jordan (Pasadena, MD) got her first career win striking out three in seven innings and allowing three runs and two hits for the complete game.
Nyack jumped out in the first inning to a 3-0 lead led by a sacrifice fly from Janella Adams scoring Jessa Johnson. That was followed by a wild pitch scoring Arielys Rodriguez and finally a single to left center by Jayna Celano scoring Erin O'Brien.
Game two in the matchup has been postponed.
Goldey-Beacom is back in action Thursday as they travel across town to face Wilmington University in a doubleheader starting at 2:30 pm.
