Andrea Fresneda Picked Second Team All-CACC

10/22/2021 12:00:00 AM

Goldey-Beacom sophomore Andrea Fresneda (Valencia, Spain) has been one of the most consistently solid players for the women's tennis team during her time in Pike Creek and she was rightfully rewarded in being picked second team All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.

Fresneda went 7-0 during her fall singles matches with five of those victories coming in straight sets and three seeing her not drop more than two games.  She amassed four victories on the doubles side with sophomore Kristin Radeke (Bremen, Germany).

All of this helped the Lightning (4-3, 3-3 CACC) be on the verge of making the conference tournament with a young lineup.  GBC overall notched a 25-17 record during its singles matches and a 12-9 mark on the doubles side.

Fresneda has made winning on the singles side a habit.  She went 15-4 during the 2018-19 campaign when the Lightning advanced to the "Sweet 16" of the NCAA Tournament.  Fresneda notched two "double-bagels" during that span and seven matches in which she did not drop more than four games.  She and Radeke that fall advanced to the third round of the ITA East Regional in doubles and that spring Fresneda was picked the CACC Rookie of the Month.

Goldey-Beacom in 2018-19 closed 44th in the country in going further than any team had gone in the College's history at the NCAA Tournament.
