Goldey-Beacom's perpetual display of solid work in the classroom again showed with the College getting 49 student-athletes presented a Division II Academic Achievement Award by the Athletic Director Association (ADA).

The award goes to a student-athlete in the 2019-20 academic year who recorded at least a 3.5 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale, has completed at least four semesters at that school and is an active member of their team.

Goldey-Beacom last year saw its student-athletes record a 3.14 GPA, higher than the overall average of the College.  In 2019, the College also had four of its teams win an inaugural Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Team Academic Award for having the highest team GPA in the league, tying for the most in the conference.

"Goldey-Beacom's student-athletes continue to enjoy a stellar record of recognition by the NCAA for high academic achievement," Vice President for Academic Affairs Alison White said.  "They are among the best of the best scholars at GBC in addition to being superb athletes, teammates and leaders.  We are so proud of their achievements."

"The academic success of our student-athletes is a source of great pride for our college community," said Senior Woman Administrator/Assistant Director of Athletics Bethann Burke, who is the department's academic contact.  It starts with the recruitment of tremendous student-athletes or high character who receive great support here at Goldey-Beacom."

Among the many academic highlights include Line Kristoffersen (Bergen, Norway) from women's soccer, Rose Benjamin (North East, MD) from women's soccer and Lindsay Przywara (Williamstown, NJ) from volleyball each being tabbed CoSIDA Academic All-District for a second straight year.  This brings the total of Academic All-District honorees for the College to 19.

Benjamin and senior Dianna Gatto (Jefferson, NJ) from softball each were their sport's winner of the CACC Top XVI Award, which goes to the student-athlete with the highest GPA at the finals site of each conference championship.  Since spring championships were canceled this year, the criteria was altered to still recognize those student-athletes.
