Women’s Tennis Notches 5-2 Win Over Delaware State

Goldey-Beacom's again grabbed the doubles point and notched four singles triumphs for a 5-2 victory over Division I Delaware State at Delcastle Tennis Center in Wilmington, DE.

The Lightning grabbed a 1-0 lead with senior Alma Garcia Valle (Valladolid, Spain) and freshman Sara Edebo (Gothenburg, Sweden) getting a 7-5 win over Lolita Kozina and Anastasia Belkina at second doubles along with senior Silvia Hortelano Pey (Castelldefels, Spain) and sophomore Andrea Fresneda (Valencia, Spain) recording a 6-1 triumph at No. 3 doubles versus Alina Polyvana and Anastaslia Danylova.

Sophomore Imane Van Veen (Paris, France), ranked 11th in the East Region notched a 6-4, 6-3 win at first singles over Kozina before Edebo, ranked 13th, got a 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 triumph over Iris Leder at No. 2 singles. Senior Anna Hortelano Pey (Castelldefels, Spain) notched a 7-6 (14-12), 6-3 victory at fourth singles over Polyvana and sophomore Kristin Radeke (Bremen, Germany) recorded a 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) win at No. 5 singles over Danylova.

Goldey-Beacom (11-2) entered the match ranked fifth in the East Region.

Goldey-Beacom is next schedule to face the District of Columbia on March 26 in Washington, DC. The Lightning's match scheduled for next Tuesday at West Chester was canceled.
