Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Handed 90-68 Loss by No. 7 Jefferson

Goldey-Beacom made an early second-half run, but seventh-ranked Jefferson was too much in dealing the home side a 90-68 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

Down 54-32 at the break, Goldey-Beacom embarked on a 15-5 run in just over five minutes to start the second half for a 59-47 deficit.  Freshman Nazim Derry (Atlantic City, NJ) scored six points in that time with junior Jordan Money (Wilmington, DE) adding five.

The lead was 66-51 with 11:41 remaining when the Rams scored the next 11 points for a 26-point cushion with 8:57 to go.  Deondre Bourne continued his stupendous night with five points in that span.

Junior Tyler Jones (Lawrenceville, NJ) again had an outstanding game for the Lightning, scoring 21 points on 6-of-14 shooting with six rebounds, four 3-pointers and four assists.  He has averaged 19.0 points over his last three contests and scored in double figures six of his last nine games.

Derry poured in 14 points, Money scored 13 with sophomore Juran Ligonde (Boston, MA) adding 10 for the Lightning.

Bourne was unbelievable with 29 points on 9-of-14 shooting that included seven 3-pointers and a four-point play.  Kylan Guerra netted 22 points, Ja'Zere Noel scored 19 with Josh Bradanese grabbing 20 rebounds for the Rams (25-2, 18-0 CACC), winners of 18 straight contests.

Goldey-Beacom (14-13, 11-7 CACC) already is locked into the two seed out of the CACC South Division, but still does not know its opponent for the conference tournament.  Bloomfield (10-8) and Felician (10-8) are tied for third in the North Division and Nyack (9-9) is one game back.

The third-place finisher is the one who will battle GBC next Tuesday at 6:00 pm.

Goldey-Beacom on Saturday ends its regular season at Wilmington, beginning at 3:00 pm in Newark.
