Men's Basketball Defeats Wilmington 73-67



Goldey-Beacom defeats Wilmington 73-67 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match up in Newark, DE.
 
Wilmington came out on top in the first half with a 32-27 lead. The Lightning shot 37.93% (11-29) from the field goal and Wilmington shot 40.6% with five 3-pointers. Goldey-Beacom fought hard but Wilmington stayed on top in the first half gaining a 13-point lead at one point in the half.
 
In the second half, the Lightning got their momentum and won the second half 46-35. Goldey-Beacom shot 53.13% from the field goal with six three-pointers.
 
Wilmington shot 43.75% (14-32) with four 3-pointers. Despite being down after the first half, Goldey-Beacom gained a 13-point lead that Wilmington continued to close. The Lightning went on to win the game 73-67.
 
Junior Tevin Service (Union, N.J.) scored a career-high 22 points and tied his personal best with nine rebounds.  Sophomore Juran Ligonde (Boston, Mass.) had 19 points and nine rebounds with freshman Nazim Derry (Atlantic City, N.J.) netting 12 points for Goldey-Beacom.
 
Danny Walsh had 25 points, Jermaine Head had 17 points and eight assists and Kam Cooper had 16 points for Wilmington.
 
The Lightning will face Bloomfield in the quarterfinals of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament on Tuesday, March 3 at 6pm in Wilmington, DE.
