Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women’s Basketball Handed 79-63 Loss by Georgian Court

A game of attrition and short benches saw Goldey-Beacom battle its way into the fourth quarter, only to be dealt a 79-63 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss by Georgian Court at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

In a game which each side only fielded 11 players, the Lightning only were down 54-45 entering the fourth quarter and hoped for some momentum.  But the Lions embarked on a 13-2 run for a 67-47 lead with 7:12 left.

Tian Addison netted five points in that time, ending it with a layup.

Goldey-Beacom once again received strong production from sophomore Alexis Harrison (Millville, NJ), who has been a dominant player in the post and continues to be one of the squad's many bright spots.  She closed with a career-best 21 points on 9-of-18 shooting for the 12th straight game this season she has reached double figures.

Harrison is averaging 15.6 points and 8.1 rebounds during that time with five double-doubles and is shooting 58 percent from the floor.

Freshman Janiya Stevens (Ellendale, DE) netted a season-best 14 points with senior Jill Latanowich (Newton, MA) getting 11 rebounds for the Lightning (8-17, 8-9 CACC), who shot 43 percent (26-of-60) from the floor.

Addison poured in 19 points, Jada Atchison and Savawn Hughes netted 13 apiece with Safiyyah Lee getting 10 for the Lions (8-16, 6-11), who shot 47 percent (30-of-64) from the floor.

Goldey-Beacom ends its four-game homestand Wednesday against Jefferson, beginning at 6:00 pm.
