Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Falls, 91-73, at Caldwell

Goldey-Beacom had trouble getting out of the gate in the second half and fell for just the second time in its last eight contests, 91-73 at Caldwell in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game in Caldwell, NJ.

Goldey-Beacom was down 42-40 at halftime after the home side shot 52 percent (14-of-27) from the floor despite nine turnovers.  Freshman Nazim Derry (Atlantic City, NJ) scored 10 points, Kyle Elliot (Rahway, NJ) had eight and seven rebounds with fellow junior Tevin Service (Union, NJ) adding eight points.

The Lightning looked to gain momentum into the second half, but the Cougars took care of that.  The home side opened the stanza with a 25-11 run over the first nine minutes to open a 67-51 cushion.  Vaughn Covington netted 12 points in that time with Eric Johnson-Alford adding six for Caldwell, which shot 8-of-14 from the floor in that time and 7-for-8 from the line.

Derry ended with 20 points on 6-of-10 shooting and went 8-for-9 from the line.  Elliot recorded 13 points and seven rebounds with junior Marcellus Livingston (Linden, NJ) netting 11 points for the Lightning (6-7, 3-1 CACC).

Covington ended with 29 points that included going 16-for-16 from the line over 35 minutes.  Ned Ogoemesim poured in 15 points and Manley Dorme added 12 for the Cougars (7-6, 3-2), who shot 53 percent (28-of-53) from the floor, went 29-for-35 from the line and won despite 21 turnovers.
