Women’s Basketball Rolls, 75-59, at Felician

Senior Amanda McGrogan (Mount Laurel, NJ) simply went on another tear with 24 points and nine rebounds, pacing four players in double figures for Goldey-Beacom in leading her squad to a 75-59 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory at Felician in Rutherford, NJ.
 
The Lightning in the opening quarter raced to a 27-18 lead by shooting 44 percent (7-of-16) from the field and going 9-for-10 from the line.  Sophomore Sarah Round (Northampton, England) continued her solid play with nine points on three 3-pointers and McGrogan adding five assists.
 
The Golden Falcons roared back in the second quarter, outscoring the Lightning 14-8 despite only shooting 22 percent (5-of-23) from the field and just 4-of-11 from three-point range.  Taliyah Brisco and Haylee Ramirez netted six points apiece for Felician.
 
Goldey-Beacom's great defense in the opening half limited Felician to only 35 percent shooting (13-of-37) and forced six turnovers in gaining a 35-32 lead.  Round ended the half scoring 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting with five rebounds and sophomore Alexis Harrison (Millville, NJ) adding eight points.
 
The lead widened to 54-44 at three-quarter time and McGrogan, as she has in recent weeks, continued her impressive play.  She scored 11 points in the quarter on 4-of-5 shooting with three 3-pointers for GBC, which limited Felician to 33 percent shooting (5-of-15) with five turnovers.
 
McGrogan continued her torrid play in the fourth, pouring in nine points and helping her unit shoot 62 percent (8-of-13) from the field.  Goldey-Beacom held a 21-15 edge on the scoreboard in the quarter and limited the home side to 29 percent (6-of-21) from the floor.
 
McGrogan overall shot 8-of-15 from the field and 4-of-7 from 3-point range over 37 minutes.  She now has 102 career 3-pointers, becoming the seventh in team history to reach triple figures, and moves into sixth on the school's single-season list with 191 field goals.
 
Harrison recorded 16 and 10 rebounds for her third straight double-double, Round netted 14 points and sophomore Lexi Weikert (Harrisburg, PA) added 10 for GBC (4-14, 4-6 CACC), which has won eight straight contests from Felician.
 
Tiara Mahorn scored 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting, Brisco and Briana Lee netted 10 apiece with Damia Jordan adding 14 rebounds for the Golden Falcons (2-15, 1-9), who shot 33 percent (24-of-73) from the floor.
 
Goldey-Beacom does not return to action until next Saturday, when it hosts Bloomfield at 3:00 pm.  The women's game between the same schools precedes it at 1:00 pm
