The first Intercollegiate Tennis Association team regional rankings for 2019-20 are out with Goldey-Beacom's women's tennis unit listed fifth in the East Region.

The latest good news for this storied program comes on the heels of the first individual regional rankings, which had sophomore Imane Van Veen (Paris, France) ranked 11th and freshman Sara Edebo (Gothenburg, Sweden) placed 13th.

It was just the latest chapter of success for the Lightning (9-2, 8-1 CACC), who last fall played in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference final for the seventh time in program history and third in the last four years.  First-year coach Kristin Lake also helped Goldey-Beacom get to the CACC Tournament a 12th straight season with all resulting in at least a berth in the semifinals.

Goldey-Beacom also has been in the NCAA Tournament eight times with last season's unit advancing to the "Sweet 16," the furthest any team in the College's history has gone in this tournament in any sport.  The team ended 44th in the nation for the third-best mark in program annals.

Van Veen amassed a 10-2 singles record in the fall, with all of her victories coming in straight sets and both of her losses requiring a match tiebreak.  She advanced to the second round of the ITA East Regional and enters the spring with a nine-match winning streak.

Edebo went 9-2 in singles that included a five-match winning streak midway through the fall.  She made her presence early, advancing to the second round of the ITA East Regional with a 7-6, 6-4 victory over two-time CACC Player of the Year Karla Miletic from University of the Sciences.

Van Veen and Edebo each were tabbed first team all-conference and to the CACC All-Tournament Team.

Goldey-Beacom opens its spring campaign March 13 against Delaware State at the Delcastle Tennis Center.
