Women’s Basketball Falls at Post



Sophomore Alexis Harrison (Millville, NJ) scored a career-high 18 points for Goldey-Beacom, which ran into a scoring machine for a 101-63 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss at Post in Waterbury, CT.
 
The Eagles gained control in the opening quarter, racing to a 28-14 lead by shooting 61 percent (11-of-18) from the field even though the Lightning shot 50 percent (6-of-12).  Sha'Raya Haines poured in nine points for Post, Taylor Williams netted eight and Kiera Fernandes added seven.
 
Harrison played great in the period with six points on 3-of-3 shooting and sophomore Sarah Round (Northampton, England) added five on 2-of-4 shooting.
 
Harrison overall shot 7-of-13 from the field and reached double figures in points a fourth time this season for GBC (1-13, 1-5 CACC).  Sophomore Lexi Weikert (Harrisburg, PA) netted 12 points and Round closed with 10.
 
Williams finished with 23 points on 8-of-16 shooting with 10 rebounds and Fernandes amassed 21 points, six rebounds and five assists.  Haines netted 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting with Katelyn Andres getting 14 for the Eagles (10-3, 5-1).
 
Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday visits Jefferson for a 6:00 pm, followed by the men's game between the same schools at 8:00 pm.
