Sara Edebo Named to CACC Women’s Tennis Weekly Honor Roll

An eye-opening debut for Goldey-Beacom freshman Sara Edebo (Gothenburg, Sweden) against some of the area's top players earned her a spot on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Weekly Honor Roll.

Edebo had an impressive start for Goldey-Beacom at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association East Regional. After getting through one qualifying match, she notched a stunning 7-6, 6-4 first-round victory over 2016 and 2017 CACC Player of the Year Karla Miletic from University of the Sciences.

Edebo also exceled with sophomore Kristin Radeke (Bremen, Germany) in doubles. The pair upended Brianna Laureti and Camila Humala, 8-2, from Le Moyne in the first round and then topped Marija Milic and Simone Parn, 8-6, from the District of Columbia in the second round.

Goldey-Beacom this season hopes to pick up where it left off from 2018-19. The squad last season (16-5, 7-1 CACC) advanced to the "Sweet 16" of the NCAA Tournament, the furthest any team in the College's history has proceeded in the tournament. The team played in the NCAA Tournament for the eighth time in school history and clinched a share of a third straight CACC regular-season title.

The unit has won 24 of its last 25 regular-season league matches and extended its run of making the conference semifinals to 11 straight seasons.

Goldey-Beacom, picked by the coaches to win the CACC this season, opens league play September 25 at Jefferson.
