Goldey-Beacom battles hard but falls to Lock Haven twice, 6-1 and 6-1, in an out of conference match up in Wilmington, DE.
In game one, Goldey-Beacom took the early lead in the bottom of the first inning when Jess Lusk (Victoria, B.C.) crushed an RBI triple to right field.
Lock Haven battled back in the top of the third inning when Becca Caputo hit an RBI double down the left line to tie the game 1-1.
Goldey-Beacom and Lock Haven continued to battle back and forth until Lock Haven pulled ahead in the top of the seventh inning.
Caputo hit a double RBI double to left center field to put Lock Haven up 3-1. Casey Carpenter kept the momentum going for Lock Haven with an RBI double to left field. Lock Haven went on to score two more runs to win game one 6-1.
Bekah Slattery (11-7) pitched all seven innings for Lock Haven and had 14 strike outs.
Lusk went 2-for-3 in game one for the Lightning.
In game two, the game remained even between the Lightning and Lock Haven until the top of the sixth inning.
In the top of the sixth inning, Amanda Criss hit a triple RBI double to left field to give Lock Haven a 3-0 lead.
Goldey-Beacom closed the lead to two in the bottom of the sixth when Lusk hit an RBI single up the middle.
Lock Haven went on to score three more runs in the top of the seventh when Caputo hit a double RBI single to right field. Madison Mathes went on to hit a single to short stop and due to a throwing error on the short stop, Caputo was able to score giving Lock Haven a 6-1 lead.
Lock Haven took game two 6-1.
Kasey Gee (8-5) pitched 5.1 innings for Lock Haven and had 5 strike outs.
Goldey-Beacom is back in action at home on Wednesday in a doubleheader against Georgian Court at 2:30pm in Wilmington, DE.
