Goldey-Beacom once again went against the nation's elite, but was handed a 6-1 loss by No. 42 Queens (NY) at Delcastle Tennis Center in Wilmington, DE.

The Lightning again got a stellar performance at first doubles from sophomores Lotte Lesscher y Post (Arnhem, Netherlands) and Catarina Zheng (Oporto, Portugal), who were just slotted as the 15th-ranked tandem in the country.  They made a strong case to stay in the rankings with a 6-3 triumph at first doubles over 30th-ranked Reehan Rashad and Luisa Auffarth.

It was their 18th doubles victory of the season, tied for the second most in one season in school history.  Their 34 career wins are tied for the seventh-best mark in team annals.

Lesscher y Post also got a singles triumph by retirement, notching a 6-3, 3-0 victory at No. 1 singles over Rashad.

Goldey-Beacom (12-4), ranked seventh in the East Region, entered the match having upended No. 35 and regional number one New York Tech on Tuesday.  GBC earlier this season also topped the District of Columbia, which is fourth in the East Region.

Queens (13-3) entered the match ranked second in the East Region.

Goldey-Beacom next Friday hosts Indiana (PA) for a 3:30 pm match at Delcastle Tennis Center.
