Goldey-Beacom's Department of Athletics for the third straight year joined forces with the College's Alumni Association to hold a silent auction that benefited both parties.

Many donations were given to the College that were auctioned off to help raise money.  A diverse array of gifts ranging from getaways, to pet-friendly gifts to kid-friendly gifts were there for the bidding.

The Athletics Department and Alumni Affairs collaborate in many ways.  The departments the last three years have participated in Legacy Night, which brings back many of the alumni for a night of food and conversation during a basketball game.  The departments also have collaborated for "Hoop it Up," another gathering of alumni which also included parents of the student-athletes.

"Recognizing that our past plays a vital role in our future, we take advantage of every possible opportunity to engage with our alumni," said Director of Athletics Dr. Thomas Brennan. "We enjoyed having our alumni athletes while they were here as student-athletes, but we also enjoy having them back on campus and sharing their many successes with us – jobs, spouses, kids. So many have gone on to do such great things and we could not be more proud of them."

The Alumni Affairs office also has played a big role in sponsoring projects for the athletics department.  This includes new signage that hangs from Nancy Churchman Sawin Field, home of Goldey-Beacom's men's and women's soccer teams.

"The Silent Auction allows both the Alumni Association and the Athletics Department to develop a strong partnership as we raise funds to benefit students and student-athletes," Goldey-Beacom Alumni President Evern Ford said.  "We established this partnership two years ago and we look forward to growing and strengthening it for years to come."
